They walked the streets of the snow-covered city, while the harsh winds brush across their faces. Adelyn was not the biggest fan of the cold; ever since she was young her hands would go numb and her feet. Frostbite? No, she was always cold until the summer wiggles outs of it cocoon. In the meantime, She just pulled the zipper of her winter jacket up to highest point and nuzzle her nose behind the cold fabric. “Cold? You don’t look good?” Ardent held his hand up to her warm forehead. She smiled at him, as his cold fingers brush against her forehead. “I’m fine.” She breathed out. He returned her smile with one of his own dazzling one. “Come on, we need to get these supplies.” Genevi growled, waving her list in the air. The mini shopping trip seems like it went on forever. Running into different convenience stores, super markets, and weird ingredient stores seem to have a toll on Adelyn. She carried two large grocery bags of spices and food as Genevi carried only her Louis Vutton wristlet “Addie, Come on. We have to get you some clothes.” Genevi sneered at her. Adelyn looked up at her, huffing a little for air. What was her problem? I just met her instantly she hates me? Adelyn thought. Just more drama I have to deal with. She rolled her eyes. They stepped into large gold doors, brushing by businessmen and local shoppers. The inside was a tower with at least five floors of either small boutiques or fast food restaurants. She watches the pedestrians pass by her, each one nearly running into her. What is this place? All of the escalators encircle around a large clock hanging from the top of the building. The clock ticked to three o’ clock, creating a long and loud three chimes that echoed through the entire place. “This is Tower City Center.” Her daze was interrupted, as Ardent picked up Adelyn’s large grocery bags. Tower City Center? Then the place flashed into her memory. Cleveland. They were in Cleveland, Ohio. The old city filled with the greatest entrepreneurs in the world until the Great Depression hit the city. “Addie, get your head out of your ass and lets get going!” Genevi was becoming impatient with her. Genevi was already on the other side of the tower at the elevator, pressing the button. Adelyn trotted over to Genevi and Ardent followed holding about his own weight in grocery bags. “Come on, damn elevator.” Genevi became even more impatient, as she was pushing the down button. Finally, the elevator opens and surprising no one was inside. Inside, the shaft was encased with red velvet with gold buttons on them. Slowly, the doors closed and the shaft began to move down. Ardent bit into his thumb and drips of crimson drops rolled down his thumb. “What are you doing?” Adelyn stared at the blood. He pressed his thumb into the ‘B’ button. Slowly, the ‘B’ changed into a bow and arrow, lighting up gold. “Without my blood as the key, we would be still going down and the doors will never open.” Ardent licked his thumb. Genevi rolled her eyes, as she placed her thumb over the golden bow and arrow and it glowed the same sigel. The elevator has a spell on it only people with specific blood could go to this place. What kind of people are they? Adelyn just met them and barely know who they are. Suddenly, the elevator stopped and the doors open to room filled with Victorian styled furniture and deep crimson red velvet walls. Everything was either red, black, or gold. “Welcome back Miss Genevi and Mister Ardent.” A young lady walked up to them. She wore a Lolita style of a maid’s outfit with the fringe gold. Her long brunette hair was pulled up into a bun and her crystal clear blue eyes gleamed under the chandeliar. “Thank you, Audrey. Alert the other menes, Regent, and fledgings for a meeting.” Ardent handed her his jacket, and she nodded. “Also, get this brat some clothes to wear for the meeting. I had to share my clothes with her.” Genevi glared at Adelyn as she threw her jacket at Audrey. “No problem, Miss Genevi.” Audrey folded the jacket on top of Ardent’s. “I suggest a bath for her too Audrey. She looks a little weak right now.” Ardent glanced back at her. Adelyn had to agree with Ardent. She was stressed and tired from carrying spices and food about a mile around town. Also, she didn’t truly care for the sad hand-me-downs from miss primadonna. Lastly, she was missing a vital asset that she clearly needs under her shirt and jeans. “Alright, I will take care of her and prepare her for the meeting. Just take the groceries to the kitchen and prepare for the meeting, Cynthia and Ray will help you two” Suddenly, a man dressed in a full butler suit with also gold fringe and a girl appeared, beside Ardent, dressed in the same Lolita style maid outfit but with red fringe. Ardent and Genevi walked away with Ray and Cynthia, disappearing into a different hallway. “This way Adelyn.” Audrey pushed her along towards a different hallway. What is this place? Adelyn wondered.
